1:1 Teaching Assistant

Salary - £8.50 to £9.50 depending on experience

Closing Date Midday on Friday 11th May 2018.

25 hours per week – term time only - linked to a specified child.

The school are looking for: An enthusiastic, exceptional, irrepressible and patient Teaching Assistant, preferably with experience in KS2. The post holder would need to be strong in character to deal with challenges from time to time, however, would also need to possess a caring, nurturing personality, allowing the child to develop to the best of their ability.

The parents would like: A tenacious and resilient individual who understands that behaviour is communication; who can work empathically with a child, but still consistently set good expectations; an ability to believe the potential but comprehend the mindset from where a child is working from. A working knowledge of early years trauma, SPD and attachment would be an advantage. Willingness to communicate with us as parents is essential.

The child would like: Someone who is consistent so I can feel safe. Be able to understand that sometimes I cannot do something that I could previously do, and know when it’s a case of 'can't rather than won't'. I need someone who can understand that I see the world from a very different viewpoint and who can have empathy with how my experiences have shaped that world view. I also need someone who is willing to get to know me and my cheeky sense of humour, help me manage my emotions safely and in an appropriate way, support my sense of justice in challenging situations and know that my behaviour is how I communicate.  Someone who can show me they are listening to me is important.

The school is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of every child and as such appointment to this post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
